Best Prices on Power Adapters in Sri Lanka
Pick a charger by the watts your device needs
A charger, also called a power adapter, plugs into the wall and sends power through a cable to your phone, tablet or laptop. Its power is shown in watts (W), and a phone needs far fewer watts than a laptop. Check the watts and the ports, which are the sockets for the cable, before you buy. For Apple phones, see our iPhone chargers, and to charge your phone with no cable in it, see our MagSafe chargers.
Charger checks: watts, ports and size
Count your devices first. A charger with two or three ports can charge a phone, a tablet and a laptop at once. The total watts are shared between the ports, though. On many chargers, one device gets the full power only when it is plugged in alone.
GaN chargers use gallium nitride parts in place of silicon. They waste less power as heat, so they can be smaller and run cooler at the same watts. That helps when one goes in your bag every day.
Some chargers come without a cable, so check what is in the box. The cable also has to handle the power, and a laptop charger needs one rated for its watts. Match it with our charging cables, which list their watt rating. If you travel, a charger marked 100 to 240V works with power in most countries, and a travel adapter changes the plug shape.
| Type | Good for | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Small USB-C charger | Phones, earbuds and watches | Look for USB-C PD to fast charge |
| Mid-size charger | Tablets and light laptops | Two ports share the total watts |
| High-watt multi-port charger | A laptop and a phone at the same time | GaN models are smaller for their power |
| MagSafe or magnetic wireless charger | Charging on a pad with no plug in the phone | The phone sits on a magnetic pad |
What changes the charger price in Sri Lanka
A charger costs more with more watts, more ports and GaN parts inside. A smart display that shows the power, built-in heat checks and a cable in the box also add to the price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a higher watt charger for my phone?
Yes. A USB-C PD charger and your phone agree on the power first, so the phone takes only what it can use. Phone makers say a laptop USB-C charger that meets safety standards can also charge a phone or tablet.
How many watts do I need to charge a laptop?
Look at the watt number on the charger that came with your laptop and choose the same or higher. A lower one may charge very slowly or fail to keep up while you work.
