How the Dyson Airstrait straightens with air

The Dyson Airstrait is a corded hair straightener with no hot plates. It uses only air to dry each section of hair and make it straight at the same time, starting from towel-dried hair. Airstrait checks: power, heat control and standby

The Airstrait plugs into a wall socket with a cable of about 2.7 m. Plan to style near a plug point, and keep the cable clear of water at the sink.

Sensors in the arms check the air temperature up to 30 times a second. Dyson says this keeps the heat steady while you style.

If you put it down with the arms open, it goes into standby after five minutes. With the arms locked shut, it does this after three minutes.

It weighs just under 1 kg. If your hair is long and thick, rest your arm between sections, because a full head takes a while.
